What We Do
Care Studios brings museum-quality African craftsmanship to the U.S. wholesale market through handcrafted beaded sculpture, garden décor, telephone-wire baskets and bowls, jewelry, seasonal décor, gifts, and distinctive artisan-made home accents created by skilled makers in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Our collections are developed in close partnership with Anointed Hands and The Afrika47 Collective, whose craftsmanship forms the creative foundation of Care Studios. Our artisans work with generations of knowledge in Ndebele, Zulu, and Xhosa beadwork, alongside wire sculpture, weaving, and innovative mixed-media techniques.
Our assortment includes hand-beaded wildlife and safari sculptures, birds and garden accents, coastal and marine-inspired pieces, farm animals, dinosaurs, Christmas décor, jewelry, telephone-wire baskets and bowls, and upcycled art made from repurposed materials such as coffee capsules. Each collection combines traditional handcraft with contemporary design, creating products that are visually distinctive, highly giftable, and rich in story.
Most Care Studios pieces are handcrafted to order, allowing us to work closely with wholesale buyers on quantities, production schedules, assortments, and selected custom requests. Because every item is handmade, subtle variations are part of the character of the work and reflect the individual artisan process.
Our products are well suited to museum stores, cultural institutions, zoos, botanical gardens, visitor attractions, independent bookstores, gift boutiques, specialty retailers, and mission-driven stores looking for meaningful products that stand apart from mass-produced merchandise. Our collections can be merchandised across wildlife, garden, cultural, museum, seasonal, destination, and gift-focused assortments.
Care Studios is a Museum Store Association member and a Fair Trade Federation verified member, reflecting our commitment to responsible partnerships, artisan-centered practices, and meaningful social impact.
Our work extends beyond the products themselves. Each purchase helps support artisan livelihoods while also contributing to DTCare’s Better Learning Brighter Futures education program, which creates educational opportunities for children in Sub-Saharan Africa. Through Care Studios, craftsmanship, commerce, and social impact are intentionally connected.
We are committed to building long-term wholesale relationships with retailers and institutions that value originality, cultural heritage, responsible sourcing, and products with a meaningful story. We welcome conversations with buyers seeking distinctive handcrafted collections, custom assortments, and memorable products for their customers.
